Continuing Taiko

Students who have successfully completed the Introductory Class may attend one or more of the weekly, ongoing taiko classes at or below their level. No pre-registration is required.

All students are invited to perform in Mu's annual taiko student recital, Passing the Beat.

Ongoing Classes - General Information

Student Advancement
The decision to move to a more advanced level class is dependent on the student's mastery of the material and is made by the instructor.

All classes require a minimum of 5 students; teachers reserve the right to cancel class if this minimum is not reached.

Level 1
(Pre-requisite:   Intro Taiko Class and instructor's recommendation)
*Continue development of naname form
*Intro to beta style, soloing

Level 2 (Pre-requisite:  Level 1 and instructor's recommendation)
*Focus on refining form, technique, soloing
*Intro to shime technique, improvisation

Level 3 (Pre-requisite:  Level 2 and instructor's recommendation)
*Continue to refine technique on chu (naname & beta), soloing, improvisation
*Intro to odaiko technique

Parent-Child Ongoing (Pre-requisite: Parent-Child Intro 1 & 2 classes and instructor's recommendation)
*Continue development of naname form
*Intro to beta style, soloing
