Mu Performing Arts seeks a Communications Coordinator
Part time, 20-28 hrs per week, Salary DOE
Mu Performing Arts, a growing dynamic Asian American Theater and Taiko organization based out of St. Paul, is looking for a Communications Director. We are looking for someone who can grow and manage our efforts, create a new strategy that fully integrates these technologies, and clearly communicates our story in an exciting way with the goal of bringing the organization to the next level.
The outcomes of this position are increased local and national profiles through strong public relations policies and relationships with the press, as well as increased audience participation and engagement for the purposes of maximizing our family of supporters both in ticket sales and in financial contributors for the organization.
This position will oversee all visual branding aspects of the organization including advertising, verbiage, and graphic design.
This position will act as public relations agent for the organization.
This position will oversee and update the website as well as all social media.
This position will provide project management for print materials including playbills and brochures, as well as internal branding of signage, letterhead, etc.
Advertising and Media Relations
Secure, plan and execute all advertising for the season.
Secure, coordinate and execute promotional partnerships to support grassroots marketing efforts.
Secure ad swaps with other theater companies.
Keep an updated list of all press contacts.
Create, write and send out press releases for all pertinent events for Mu.
Invite and ensure press presence at Mu events.
Monitor house sizes and sales for upcoming shows and devise plans for open inventory .
Oversee creation of all visual materials for web site, ads, post cards, show programs, show posters (when needed), ensure brand quality and consistency in all materials. We expect a high level of artistry, understanding of layout design, consistency in brand, and ability to fulfill printer requirements.
At all Mu performances, ensure that venues are complying with marketing agreements according to contract and that all information about Mu presented by contracting venue is accurate and appropriate. Ensure lobby is set up for branding and best customer experience. Respond quickly and appropriately to any discrepancies, and follow up as necessary.
The realm of technology and social media is constantly changing. This position needs to do the proper research and planning to keep on the cutting edge of what is available and necessary for keeping the organization current on these platforms. This includes the use of our current platforms of Constant Contact email, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, website, and Twitter. This position may not be required to write or create all content, but needs to be proactive in obtaining content using necessary means.
Maintain and develop relationships with photographers, directors, editors, and videographers to produce high quality photo and video shoots to market our seasons and productions. There is also opportunity to direct and shoot videos for YouTube, creating other videos for engagement that are in line with our mission and purpose.
