A poor young man takes a journey to find the hermit of Bul-guk-san, a sacred mountain in Korea. Along the way he encounters a woman obsessed with scratching, a roaring river dragon and an aging odd couple.

In one of the most famous Japanese folk stories, the villagers of Noto Hanto stave off samurai marauders with wild dancing and drumming.
