The fully staged production of the Obie Award-winning play June 7–29 with two performances each in New York Mills, Mankato, Red Wing and Rochester.

(Minneapolis/St. Paul) Mu Performing Arts today announced tour locations and details for its Minnesota Chinese Restaurant Tour of FOB by David Henry Hwang (Broadway’s Chinglish, M. Butterfly). "I couldn't be more excited about Mu's Minnesota Chinese Restaurant tour of my play FOB. Like many Chinese of my generation, I had relatives in the restaurant business, and this play was written in part as a tribute to their spirit. Performing it now in those restaurants themselves brings the journey of this play back full-circle. I hope everyone enjoys the show; I know they will enjoy the food." ~ David Henry Hwang, playwright The production will tour during weekends in June to four Minnesota communities. Mu Artistic Director Randy Reyes helms Hwang’s landmark Obie Award-winning play which explores relationships and conflicts between established ABC (American Born Chinese) and FOB (Fresh Off the Boat) newcomers. “The idea for the MN Chinese restaurant tour of FOB came to me after visiting various small towns in greater Minnesota. Though there was very little diversity in restaurant choices, there was always a Chinese restaurant with Chinese owners. Then I started to wonder how these Chinese restaurant owners and their families ended up in these Minnesota towns and how many people in these towns know their stories. I thought performances of FOB in these restaurants would be a great catalyst to learn more about these amazing Americans.” ~ Randy Reyes, Mu Performing Arts Artistic Director The production stars Twin Cities actors Eric Sharp (Yellow Fever, Into the Woods), Meghan Kreidler (Kung Fu Zombies Vs. Cannibals), and Michael Sung-Ho (Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors).

Tea Time Before each stop on the Minnesota Chinese Restaurant Tour Mu will present TEA TIME: a free interactive lecture about the history of Chinese immigration hosted by each community’s presenting partner and led by Twin Cities educator Eliza Rasheed.
