COVID PROTOCOLS

Minnesota’s public health situation is constantly evolving as health officials continue to gather more epidemiological, clinical, and laboratory data around COVID-19. Our policies are made to keep both our audiences and our production team as safe as possible, and they keep in mind the current regulations of other Twin Cities theaters and the guidelines set out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and other parties such as Actors’ Equity Association. Please check back for the most up-to-date protocols as your mainstage production or other Mu event nears.

FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS

COVID-19 Policy for The Kung Fu Zombies Saga: Shaman Warrior & Cannibals:  Masks, preferably KN95s or N95s, are recommended while attending any performance, but they are required during all Sunday matinees. If an event does have to be canceled, due to COVID-19 or otherwise, Theater Mu will notify you via email and follow up with an option to reschedule your performance, receive a full refund, or donate your ticket.

FOR SUMMER CAMPERS

As Minnesota’s public health situation evolves, we will continue to monitor the recommendations provided to us by the CDC, Minnesota Department of Health, and local leadership.

Face masks are longer required for participants and staff. We will have disposable face masks available on site for anyone wishing to use them. In addition, we utilize the following practices at our venue:

  • Daily cleaning occurs in all shared spaces and bathrooms. In addition, door handles, light switches, and other high-touch surfaces will be sanitized frequently.

  • Indoor space will operate at a capacity that ensures students have space to freely move and create.

  • Personal prevention practices such as hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette will also be reinforced.

  • Our staff are fully vaccinated, and we encourage COVID-19 vaccination for students. People who are fully vaccinated are at low risk of symptomatic or severe infection.

Families should conduct a health screening every morning before sending their student to class. Theater Mu staff will also monitor for symptoms throughout the day. COVID-19 symptoms may include fever, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, and other symptoms.

If your child is exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, please do not send them to class. Any student or staff that exhibits symptoms will activate our COVID Response Plan, which will include separating from our student population in a safe, dedicated space until we are able to have a caregiver pick them up from camp.

COVID Response Plan
If students display symptoms of COVID-19, they should stay home and take a test the following morning. Students who test positive for COVID-19 will not be able to return to class that week. Students should test negative for COVID-19 and must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to camp. If returning to class with mild symptoms other than fever, we ask students to wear a well-fitting mask for the remainder of the week.

Currently, asymptomatic individuals do not need to quarantine if they are close contacts with someone who has tested positive for COVID. Nevertheless, families will be contacted about confirmed exposure to positive COVID-19 cases.

Please direct questions or concerns to Morgen Chang at morgen@theatermu.org.

Camp Cancellation and Refunds
If Theater Mu cancels a class for any reason, you will be issued a full refund for classes that have not yet started and/or a prorated refund for classes that have started. If a student needs to withdraw from a class, you will be issued a 50% refund of your program fee for cancellations more than two weeks before your class begins. No refunds will be issued less than two weeks before the start of your camp date, or for absences due to travel or sickness.

FOR OFFICE AND STUDIO VISITORS

At our St. Paul office and studio, we are grateful to offer small, in-person programming. We strive to keep our participants safe through the following features and practices:

  • Daily cleaning occurs in all learning spaces, bathrooms, and shared spaces. In addition, door handles, light switches, and other high-touch surfaces will be sanitized frequently.

  • Indoor space will operate at a capacity that ensures social distancing is easily achievable and students have space to freely move and create. Social distancing is three feet between individuals, in accordance with guidelines recommended by the CDC and MDH.

  • Outdoor space will be utilized when possible.

  • Face masks are recommended for all in our space, but mask requirement is at the discretion of the teaching artists or if Theater Mu is in a production cycle.

  • Other personal prevention practices such as hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette will also be reinforced.

We strongly encourage COVID-19 vaccination for eligible students, theater company members, and staff. People who are fully vaccinated are at low risk of symptomatic or severe infection, especially with the addition of a booster dose. A growing body of evidence suggests that people who are fully vaccinated are also less likely to have asymptomatic infection or transmit COVID-19 to others.
